Saemundur (or Sæmundur or Mr. "Bicep")

10 May 1999 Update: Well, now I have heard Ingumundur's Intruder beside Saemundur's... and I have to confess, the drilled one sounds a LITTLE louder than the one with the bypass (past the box)...

9th May 1999 Update: I met Saemundur downtown... We even stopped traffic as he turned his big yellow monster around (3 point turn) and joined Dossi and me for a trip down to the local square... Given that 3 more Intruder 1500s are now being uncrated (2 black & silver and 1 black & green), we will have a community on the bigger side up here before we know it!

Saemundur has been busy... He has had the plates holding up the foot rests chromed... and also the side above the tank. Also, there is a little metal piece screwed on, beside the footrest... He had that chromed too... Some of the chrome work was a bit shabby, in his opinion... and now he is talking about GOLD plating some of the stuff! Oh boy!

Another alternative, if you don't want to buy new pipes, is to do as Saemundur did... (Basically, he drilled 6 big holes (I'd say half inch, at least!) in the plate inside the end of the pipe.)

Keeper's Note: This bro lives in Hafnarfjord, which is a small port-town south of Reykjavik... He is a serious body builder and hence, by his friends in that dept. is called Mr. Bicepts! He has removed the back seat, so his yellow and cream rear fender can enjoy the sunshine.

He likes to tinker with his bike as much as the next guy and was one of the first people I know to drill holes in the backing plate inside the end of the exhaust pipe. I'd be hard pressed to say if Ingimundur's or his pipes sound better... Both are stock and both have a fairly good rumble... I'll have to drag my cassette recorder downtown one afternoon and dump it in here for you to listen to... Mind you, I'll be getting even funnier looks then than I'm getting now, as I keep shooting pics and taking interviews... one person even asked me if I was a reporter!!! I'll need to cool down in that dept.

Ok, the holes in his backing plate are about half inch big (diameter) and spaced out so as not to affect the welding. If I had a half inch drill I'd be doing this myself, but the best I can do is a quarter inch... It seems hardware stores are always closed when I get around to remembering I want to drill!
