I got started in photography in
1969, while in the service, (serving on River Patrol boats in
Viet Nam. I then went into law enforcement and spent 11
years doing much crime scene, evidence, and whatever other
photography
was requested/required. I attended Iowa Lakes Community
College, for Criminal Justice and photography. LOL< One thing
led to another, and I started in stock photography (freelance
type stuff for magazines) Wedding and Portrait photography.
Finally in "91" after my return from being activated
for Desert Storm, I went into things full time. We (my wife
Linda and I) made the lead into the digital age about 41/2 years
ago. and have not looked back. I do very few weddings
anymore, (thank God) and a few portraits. I now mostly work
in Digital restorations, scans, and photo manipulations. We
are working on the possibility of a couple of coffee table books,
one on the Civil War re-enactment's, and the other on the
Mountainmen Rendezvous re-enactment's. We've done
photography for various
magazines, local, regional, and a couple national. Much of
our stock photography is for the European market. I am
represented there by Okapia, out of Frankfurt Germany.
My first ride (many, many years ago) was a honda Sport 90, LOL, that should age me. The last bike I had was an 81 Yamaha 850 Special. A year ago, we started looking seriously at a new bike, and I just kept going back to the Intruder. I just fell in love with it. We hesitated in buying the bike because the dealer, really didn't want to deal. Then about 3 weeks ago, we decided to tell the dealer to go ahead and try to find a 99 in the blk/teal. He called me back the next day and asked if I would be interested in a used bike with low miles. He had a 98 coming in that was being traded for a Kawasaki Voyageur. it seems the gent that had my Intruder, really wanted more of a touring bike. It only had 1300 miles on it. Still looked like it came off the show room floor. Needless to say, I saved over $1,000.00 on the price of a new one. I had the dealer install the Suzuki windshield, back rest and luggage rack. and then I purchased the LeatherLyke bags. and the trunk bag.
Living in East Central Iowa, right on the Mississippi River there are many scenic rides in the fall. Linda and I have had only one so far, about a week ago, to enjoy the fall colors. LOL, for some odd reason, it seems like I have put quite a few things on the back burner as long as the weather is fairly nice (read that above 50 deg.)
Will try to get another photo of the bike with me in it, ( I hate to have my picture taken) I'm much more comfortable behind the camera.
Take care and ride safe
